Unless the court decides that you should not have contact with your parents because it may not be safe then social services must allow you to see them. How long, when and where will be agreed by your social worker and your parents and you get to have a say in this too.
You may not want contact or only want it once a week instead of twice. If you don’t feel your social worker is listening to your wishes and feelings then talk to an advocate and we can support you in getting your voice heard.
It’s also really important that you get to have contact with your brothers and sisters. They may be in another foster placement or still living at home. You have the right to have contact with them. In the Human Rights Act, Article 8 it says that you have:
‘The right to respect for private and family life, home and correspondence.’
This means family is important and you have the right to see them (unless there are concerns about your (or their) safety)
