Know Your Rights

The Children Act says that young people need to be treated with respect and one of the ways to be respected is by being listened to. If you are having trouble being listened to by the people making decisions about you then an advocate can help. Ask your social worker, Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) or carer, and they can help you contact us.

If you are making a complaint then:

‘The local authority must inform the child or young person about their rights to advocacy, ask the child if advocacy is wanted, and offer help and assistance with how to find advocacy services.’
