o We are governed by the National Standards for the Provision of Advocacy Services to Children and Young People

o We act on the side of the young person receiving support, and are determined and persistent in doing this.

o We make sure the young people we support are as fully involved and in control as they can be

o We initiate action based on a persons fundamental needs and rights if this person is not able for whatever reason to this themselves (see NIA)

o Treat the people with respect, decency and positive regard.

We aim for the following outcomes through our work:

o To safeguard children and young people through encouraging good practice and challenging poor practice by those in a position to disempower, neglect or abuse them.

o To add weight to the ideas, hopes, ambitions and opinions that people have to increase the amount of control they have over their life, so that poor practice is challenged.

o To empower people so they will be able to expand their hope and ambitions and will become more confident and able to make others take note of their opinions, hopes and ambitions, and less easily influenced by those with conflicting interests.
