Young Parents

Young Parents (including young fathers)

Who we work with

If you are a parent under the age of 18, you are entitled to Advocacy support.

If you are a Care Leaver up to the age of 21 and a parent, you are also entitled to Advocacy support.

Being a parent

Being a parent can be really exciting but it can also be really hard work. All parents need help and support and some young parents need at little bit of extra help. It’s important to get the right help.

An advocate can support you to get the help you are entitled to, know you rights and have your voice heard.

Advocates at YAP have supported young parents to:

Get services and supports        Get legal advice        Change social worker

Go to meetings and conferences          Challenge assessments

Make a complaint about a parent and child placement

Challenge housing decisions
